  After reviewing the names of those appointed to the advisory committee to have input into selecting the new president of Fresno State, I totally agree with The Bee's Feb. 13 editorial. The committee does not reflect the diversity of the community. As an African-American and longtime trustee of the State Center Community College District, whose majority of transfer students enroll at Fresno State, I am puzzled as to why there was no one representing our district on the committee.

  I would have been proud and pleased to serve on the committee, as a lifelong member of the Fresno African-American community and an alumni of Fresno State.

  Having grown up in poverty in southwest Fresno, I know firsthand the impact Fresno State can have on the lives of poor and minority students. As one of the Project 16 students, the first EOP students at Fresno State, I also know that supportive college staff, including the president, are crucial to the educational success of students.   Fresno-area rugby clubs schedule weekend action

  All of the Fresno-area rugby clubs -- from the high school level to the Fresno State club team to the Fresno Rugby Club -- are to be featured Saturday at a daylong festival at Wawona Middle School in Fresno.

  Bullard, Fresno, Roosevelt, Buchanan, Clovis West and Clovis will play in a high school tournament, featuring time-shortened games from 8 a.m. to noon. A JV match between Buchanan and Clovis follows.

  The Fresno Rugby Club faces Vacaville at 1 p.m. and the Frenso State club team plays Nevada at 2 p.m.
