Pablo Sandoval added a solo homer for the Giants. Gregor Blanco and Guillermo Quiroz each knocked in two runs.

San Francisco starter Yusmeiro Petit gave up one hit over three scoreless innings.

Dioner Navarro and Steve Clevenger each had two RBI for the Cubs. Carlos Villanueva allowed one run on four hits over three innings.
