Baseball

--Buchanan beat Bullard 8-3 in a Coca-Cola Classic semifinal. Senior Garrett Browning's bases-loaded, two-run double in the sixth inning sealed the win for Buchanan. The Bears (6-0-1) broke a 3-3 tie with the three-run sixth and added two more runs in the seventh. Kody Batesole and Trenton Kemp each had two hits for the Bears and combined to score five runs.

--Edison upset Clovis West 4-3 in eight innings to reach the Coca-Cola Classic championship. Tyler Turney drove in Trey Holly to score the winning run in the top of the eighth for the Tigers (2-5), who handed Clovis West its first loss. Edison advanced to the semifinals by placing second in its pool.

--Jacob Gatewood had a triple and got the pitching victory as Clovis beat Merced 10-1 in the Coca-Cola Classic. Logan Poisall had two hits and two runs for the Cougars.

Softball

--Cassidy Santa Cruz and Hannah Shevenell each pitched shutouts to power Liberty-Madera Ranchos to two victories at the Edison Tournament. Santa Cruz went six innings to beat Hoover 6-0, and Shevenell pitched five innings in an 11-0 victory over Reedley.

Boys tennis

-- Clovis West went 1-1 in D-I pool play matches at the California Boys Classic. The Golden Eagles fell to Monte Vista 4-3, but defeated Mission 6-1. Menlo went 2-0. Semifinals begin at 8:30 a.m. today, while the finals are set for 1 p.m. at the Sierra Sport and Racquet Club.
