When Erica McCall is banking in 3-pointers, it's going to be a long night for whoever's playing Ridgeview High.
The Stanford-bound senior thoroughly dominated Friday night's Central Section Division II girls final at Selland Arena, and there wasn't anything Garces could do about it.
McCall had 31 points, 17 rebounds and three blocks as the Wolf Pack clamped down on the Rams for a 65-38 victory.
The three blocks extended McCall's state-record total to 958. The 31 points gave her 2,548 for her career, good enough for second place in section history behind West's Nikki Blue (2,938 points from 1999-02).
Alex Green added 14 points for top-seeded Ridgeview (26-3), which captured its third section title in four years.
The Wolf Pack's first two titles, in 2010 and '11, came at Division III. This is Ridgeview's first at Division II.
"It just shows we can play with any team in the section," Green said.
Rachol West scored 16 points and Celeste West added nine points and 19 rebounds for No. 2 Garces (27-3), which didn't make a basket until midway through the second quarter. (The Rams' first five points all came on free throws.)
By the time Garces finally broke the field-goal barrier, it already faced a 16-point climb.
Ridgeview extended the lead to 34-13 at halftime, holding the Rams to 10% shooting.
Both of McCall's first-half field goals were 3-pointers from near the top of the key that glanced off the backboard before going in.
Did she call it?
"I called bank on the first one," McCall said with a grin. "But when I banked that second one, things just seemed to be falling in."
Sometimes, it's just your night.
Ridgeview, ranked No. 2 in the state in D-II, will open the Southern California Regionals at home Wednesday night while Garces hits the road.
