Alexis Garcia started and finished strong as Tranquillity High bolted to a 12-2 lead and was never threatened while defeating Laton 46-33 for the Central Section Division V boys basketball title Friday at Selland Arena.
Garcia, a 5-foot-9 junior point guard, had seven points and finished with 18, in addition to 10 rebounds, for the second-seeded Tigers (12-13), who captured their first championship in 63 years. And 1951 was their only other.
Christian Pilgrim and Branson Alves had nine points each for fourth-seeded Laton (11-18), which lost to Central Valley Christian in last year's D-V final.
