Weber State football coach Jody Sears announced the hiring of former University of Montana football coach Robin Pflugrad as offensive coordinator and promoted two assistant coaches on Thursday.

Pflugrad was the head coach at Montana for two seasons before he was fired last March in the wake of alleged sexual assaults involving football players. The national FCS power Grizzlies had an 18-7 record under Pflugrad, including a national semifinal finish in 2011, when he was named the Big Sky coach of the year.

Sears also named Steve Morton as the associate head coach and Eric Lewis as defensive coordinator. Morton was the offensive line coach and Lewis guided the defensive backs on Weber State's 2-9 squad this past season.

"I'm very excited for these coaching staff announcements and the direction our football program is headed," Sears said.
