It's been quite an NFL journey for former Fresno State running back Lonyae Miller, a trail that has taken him to New Orleans for Super Bowl XLVII as a member of the Baltimore Ravens' practice squad.

After completing his Bulldogs career, Miller went undrafted in 2010. He made Dallas' practice squad and was promoted to the regular roster when then-Cowboys running back Marion Barber was hurt. Miller didn't play on offense but did recover a fumble in his debut while seeing action in four games on special teams.

The Cowboys released Miller, and he spent time with the Oakland and Seattle organizations.

Finally he was snatched up by the team he started rooting for in 1996, finding a home with the Ravens when he signed with them in December.

Miller feels fortunate.

"It was a cool transition," Miller said. "Coming to an organization that gives you a chance to show something. Coach (John Harbaugh) is a great coach to play for."

Since arriving in New Orleans for the buildup to the Super Bowl, Miller admits he has been in awe.

"Awesome feeling," Miller said. "You try not to get overwhelmed, but I'm enjoying and embracing it."

Practice squad players aren't eligible to play in the game, but Miller said he knows he will benefit from the experience.

"It's bittersweet," he said. "You want to play in the Super Bowl. I just feel I've got to keep growing as a player.

"There's a time and place for everything and right now I'm trying to be humble and I'm going to learn from this."
