MELISSA SAMANIEGO

School: Woodlake

Grade: Junior

Position: Middle hitter

By the numbers: Intimidating presence in the middle had 325 kills (3.5 per set), 107 blocks and 45 aces in third season. Had 20 or more kills in a match four times.

Accomplishments: East Sequoia League MVP helped carry Woodlake to league and section D-IV titles. Recorded 25 kills and four blocks in five-set thriller for section title, then delivered 15 kills as Tigers won CIF SoCal Regional opener.

RACHAEL SCHAEFER

School: El Diamante

Grade: Junior

Position: Outside hitter

By the numbers: Go-to hitter finished second season with 329 kills (3.5 per set) to go along with 65 digs, 33 aces, 25 blocks and 95% serving percentage. Had season-high 24 kills in five-set win over Golden West.

Accomplishments: First-team All-WYL for Miners, who went 27-4, shared league title with Lemoore and then swept Tigers for section D-II title. Had 13 kills, three aces in final to help deliver El Diamante's first section volleyball title.

KAITLYN STANLEY

School: Clovis North

Grade: Senior

Position: Libero

By the numbers: After starting as freshman middle blocker, Stanley settled in at libero in final season, recording team-high 668 digs (6.1 per set), 36 aces and 22 kills.

Accomplishments: First-team All-TRAC selection helped Clovis North go 20-17 and reach section quarterfinals during school's first appearance in D-I.

MERANDA WATKINS

School: Hoover

Grade: Senior

Position: Outside hitter

By the numbers: Had 533 kills (4.9 per set), 468 digs, 98 aces and 19 blocks. Amassed 1,352 kills in four-year career while helping elevate Hoover from sub-.500 record her freshman year to section champion as senior.

Accomplishments: North Yosemite League MVP for second straight year, Watkins helped Hoover go 25-11 while winning the league and section D-III titles. Had 19 kills, 16 digs and three aces in 3-1 win over Redwood in final.

JUSTINE WILLIAMS

School: Madera South

Grade: Senior

Position: Opposite hitter/middle blocker

By the numbers: Despite missing 11 games with injury, recorded 294 kills, 302 digs, 38 blocks and 30 assists. Season-high 28 kills in four-set victory over eventual CMAC champion Sanger.

Accomplishments: First-team All-CMAC for runner-up Stallions, who finished 18-14 and reached section D-II quarterfinals. Key contributor to Madera South's D-III championship team in 2010.
