Clovis man dies from car crash injuries

A 74-year-old man is dead after suffering serious injuries in a car crash in Clovis Sunday afternoon, Clovis police said Monday.

The man was Merle Jones, 74, of Clovis, according to the Fresno County Coroner's Office.

Jones had severe head and neck injuries after a truck collided with the passenger side of his car just after 1:22 p.m. on Sunday. He was taken to Community Regional Medical Center Sunday afternoon and died Monday, police said.

The collision is under investigation.
