BOYS BASKETBALL

Bullard, top ranked in the Central Section by The Bee, tuned up for Saturday's clash with Central by getting 14 points apiece from Calvin Young and Adam Armstead in a 68-33 win over Clovis East. The defending Division I champion Knights and second-ranked Grizzlies tip off at 7 p.m. at Fresno City College.

Dinuba forced overtime with a 23-point fourth quarter but couldn't keep Centennial from pulling away for an 85-82 overtime victory despite Ernesto Ruiz's 22 points. The Hawks are the only undefeated team at the four-day, six-team Sanger Knights of Columbus tournament. Aaron Deatherage scored 20 points in Chowchilla's 61-54 win over Sanger.

No. 8 Mission Oak rallied from a 10-point halftime deficit and rode 19 points from freshman Austin Molezzo to a 64-51 win over Frontier in the quarterfinals of the Garces Holiday Tournament.

Parker Coelho scored 21 points in Kingsburg's 60-54 victory over Fresno, while Casey Blunt's 21 paced Sierra's 58-53 win over Parlier as both schools improved to 2-0 at the Selma Jesse Lujan Memorial Tournament. Coalinga beat Fowler 50-37 behind Troy Acre's 14 points to also move to 2-0.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Star freshman Aarion McDonald just about matched her season average of 23.1 points per game, scoring 24 to help power No. 4 Bullard to a 75-58 victory over Hoover.

BOYS SOCCER

Juan Torres had a hat trick as defending Central Section Division I champion Buchanan topped Sunnyside 4-1.

WRESTLING

Teddy Thomson (152 pounds), Javier Reyes (170) and Kai Dill (285) scored pins as state No. 22-ranked Buchanan defeated No. 33 De La Salle 40-18 in a tune-up to today's Doc Buchanan Invitational.
