Three people were arrested Tuesday on suspicion of stripping a vacant Vons market in Visalia of copper, police said.
Visalia police discovered last Friday that the former Vons market at 4207 W. Noble Ave. had been stripped of copper, including wiring and plumbing lines. The damage was estimated to be at least $100,000.
On Monday, detectives from the Visalia, Clovis and Fresno police departments searched a location in the 1300 block of Barstow Avenue in Clovis, where they found information linking two men and a woman to the theft.
Visalia police arrested the two men after a short car chase in Visalia. They were booked into the Tulare County jail on suspicion of burglary, grand theft, conspiracy to commit burglary, transportation of narcotics and possession of burglary tools. The driver of the vehicle also was arrested for failing to yield to police and for a warrant from Merced County for burglary and assault.
The woman was arrested at the Table Mountain Casino in Friant with the help of the Fresno County Sheriff's Office and booked into the Tulare County jail on suspicion of burglary, conspiracy to commit burglary, and possession of narcotics.
