A man involved in a series of home-invasion robberies in Fresno and Merced counties two years ago was sentenced Tuesday to 32 years and four months in prison.

Eric Rodriguez, 23, of Phoenix, is one of nine men being tried for the home-invasion spree in early 2010. He was the fifth to be sentenced.

Sentences range from a low of 22 years to a maximum 48 years to life for Rodriguez's brother, Alejandro Rodriguez Leon, 26, also from Phoenix.

Eric Rodriguez's lawyer, Eric Green, said his client only served as a lookout during the crimes, but jumped at the sentencing offer by the Fresno County District Attorney's office because he didn't want to serve as long as his brother.

The robberies were carried out between Feb. 24 and March 16, 2010, in Clovis, Atwater, Kerman and Selma.

The cases alarmed law enforcement because of their brazen nature.

Fresno County Sheriff Margaret Mims described the robberies Friday as "blitz-type attacks."
