Students at Fresno State waited in line for 30 minutes to an hour to cast their ballots on campus Tuesday, a Fresno State spokesman said.

For the first time, the Associated Students Inc. at Fresno State provided a polling station for students and registered voters who live in University Courtyard residence halls and apartments at Campus Pointe.

Turnout seemed better than expected, said university spokesman Tom Uribes. The station had a handful of voting stations set up and had to pull out more to handle the crowd, he said.

There are about 400 registered voters in the precinct, Uribes said, but more filed into the student union to hand in mail-in ballots and fill out provisional ones.
