  I have seen all of Fresno Mayor Ashley Swearengin's ads on TV about how our garbage bills will be reduced if Measure G is approved. Can the mayor please explain to me why my and 330 other homes have had theirs doubled? This does not seem fair to me.

  I live at West Lake Mobile Home Park, and when the mayor privatized the commercial sites, we were included in that transfer. All of us here had our charges doubled immediately. The mayor is promising everyone they will save at least 18%.

  The mayor was elected to manage our city, not to sell it.

  Downtown Fresno has a day life, but it needs a nightlife to thrive. But at night, downtown, like most of the city, is kind of dark and sort of gloomy. The low-pressure sodium vapor street lamps cast an orange dim glow that says to me, "Yeah, the lights are on but nobody is home." The bright white light of Riverpark and other popular entertainment and retail venues add to a sense of excitement and anticipation as well as safety. So try a stretch here and there where the clubs and restaurants are so that even people driving by on the freeway will look and say, "Whoa, it's after 9 o'clock and Fresno is still up!"
