Doyal's Store in Piedra, a popular stop for fishermen, boaters and cyclists along the Lower Kings River below Pine Flat Lake, has closed its doors.

Owner Mark Owens told The Bee in August that he was going out of business due to a dispute with family members who own the property. However, Owens changed his mind a few days later after holding a customer appreciation day.

The store's signs have since been torn down and the gas pumps removed. A sign on the front door indicates the space is available for lease.

Owens could not be reached for comment Wednesday.

Doyal's Store opened in 1960 and moved to its current location near Trimmer Springs and Piedra roads in 1984.
