Ex-Clovis East High and UNLV star Derek Ernst fired a 6-under 65 in his first career PGA Tour event Thursday for a share of second place after one round of the Frys.com Open in San Martin.

Ernst, a recent graduate of UNLV, won a sectional qualifier to get into the tournament at CordeValle Golf Club.

Nick O'Hern leads after a career-best 62 in rainy conditions.
