In the newly created 22nd District, Rep. Devin Nunes is clearly the most qualified candidate. The Republican congressman deserves to be re-elected on Nov. 6.

While we have not always agreed with him, Nunes is a good fit for his district. His Democratic challenger not only doesn't live in the district, he doesn't even live in the San Joaquin Valley. Challenger Otto Lee, a lawyer, is a former City Council member and mayor of Sunnyvale.

Nunes has become so effective in his district, the Democrats can't seem to find someone locally to run against him.

Over the next few years, the San Joaquin Valley will face many challenges as its economy lags behind the rest of the state. We urge Nunes and other Valley House members to work together to stabilize the economy and help create jobs by working across party lines.

In the upcoming election, voters should return Nunes to Congress.
