The Small Business University event Wednesday is free this year.
Wells Fargo and Pacific Gas & Electric Co. have paid the entry fees for hundreds of Valley business owners and entrepreneurs to attend the event that normally costs $50.
Participants attend a daylong series of workshops geared toward starting a business or increasing profits.
Topics include access to capital, social media marketing, leadership development and understanding financial statements.
Lunchtime speaker Elizabeth McCormick, a former Blackhawk helicopter pilot, will speak about her military and business experience.
Registration starts at 8:30 a.m. and the event runs until 4:30 p.m. at the Clovis Veterans Memorial Building. It's hosted by the Central Valley Business Incubator/Small Business Development Center.
Another event that night, the Central Valley Stock Exchange, runs from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the same location. It costs $75 at the door and $65 in advance.
Participants showcase their businesses while guests, including community leaders, "fund" the businesses with fake money. The business that gets the most play money wins a $1,500 prize.
The stock exchange includes dinner and wine from Clovis restaurant Trelio.
