Rupia Inck, a sophomore from Brazil, delivered 16 kills on .500 hitting as NCAA Division II No. 25-ranked Fresno Pacific rolled to a 3-0 PacWest Conference women's volleyball sweep of Dominican on Saturday night in San Rafael.

Emily Carroll and Erica Adachi combined for 36 assists and Hannah Butler had 16 digs as the Sunbirds won their 12th straight while improving to 13-1 overall and 5-0 in the league.

Dominican is 5-8 and 3-2.

Fresno Pacific players fall in ITA finals

Fresno Pacific's Marie Boura and Kirill Sinitsyn reached the women's and men's finals before falling at the USTA/ITA Division II West Regional in Los Angeles.

Third-seeded Boura lost to top-seeded Annie Hwang of Brigham Young-Hawaii 6-3, 6-3. Fourth-seeded Sinitsyn lost to Azusa's third-seeded Joechem Hoefnagels 6-2, 6-2

Sinitsyn and Amarit Sanchez, seeded third, lost in the doubles final

Slocum's goal lifts Sunbirds in OT

Jae Slocum, a senior from Buchanan, scored 8 minutes into overtime as Fresno Pacific women's soccer team closed an unbeaten four-game trip in Hawaii with a 2-1 PacWest Conference win at Chaminade in Honolulu.

Haley Tallon (Tulare) assisted Slocum's goal. The Sunbirds (3-3-3, 3-1-2) also received a goal by Caressa Archie (Clovis North) against the Silverswords (0-7, 0-5).

  • Fresno Pacific's men finished their first Hawaii trip in style, beating Chaminade 7-1. Fabricio Nazare scored in the 6th minute and the Sunbirds (5-4, 3-3) were off and running against the Silverswords (1-5-1). Nazare, finished with two goals and three assists, filling a void for a Sunbirds team that was without injured senior forward Paul Islas for a second straight game.

Tesfai wins cross country gold

Fresno City College's Germay Tesfai, a sophomore from Hoover, timed 21 minutes and 26 seconds over 4.2 miles to capture the men's title of the Crystal Springs Invitational at Belmont.

College of the Sequoias and Fresno City placed third and fourth among 14 men's teams. COS' Gabriela Zamora placed third in the women's division by clocking 18:40 over 3.0 miles.

Bulldogs doubles team scores win

Fresno State's Reid DeLaubenfels and Sam McNeil won 9-7 over the University of San Francisco's Germain Bahri and Nils Skaaja to highlight the Bulldogs' efforts on the second day of the Napa Invitational tennis tournament.

The Bulldogs will take on Pacific in doubles at 8 a.m. and San Francisco in singles at 9:30 a.m. today.

NAHL Monsters lose in shootout

Cameron Rowat, Ryan Doner and Lucas Oliver scored shootout goals as the Minot Minotauros won their first North American Hockey League game of the season with a 2-1 home-ice win over the Fresno Monsters.

Newton Fuller and Mikhail Bushinski scored in the shootout for Fresno.

Local boxers victorious

Aleman Boxing Fresno's Santos Berber (13-14 year old, 110 pounds) and Kevin Mendoza (11-12, 70), and Clovis' Allen Medina (13, 90) won amateur boxing bouts in Bakersfield.
