The Old Town Clovis Farmers Market will end its season on Friday with a party -- a pistachio party to be exact.

The Fresno-based American Pistachio Growers will host the event, which will feature several pistachio-based foods such as braided bread, tamales, pistachio cakes, pistachio brittle and salad.

The event is from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. in Old Town Clovis.

Free samples of the green nut will be given out. Don Waddell, executive director of the Institute of Technology Culinary Academy, and his culinary chefs, David Pol and Kyle Waller, will perform cooking demonstrations and pass out recipe cards.

Gold medalists from the USA Women's Water Polo Team will also be at the market to talk about their experience in London this summer. Pistachios were the official snack nut of the USA water polo team.

The farmers market returns on May 10, 2013.
