Former Fresno State star Justin Wilson was optioned back to the minor leagues Tuesday afternoon by the Pittsburgh Pirates.

The Pirates called up the left-handed pitcher Monday and he made his major league debut that night at San Diego, striking out the side in his only inning in a relief appearance.

Wilson, who prepped at Buchanan High in Clovis, will rejoin the Pirates' Triple-A affiliate in Indianapolis. He is a member of the Pirates' 40-man roster and will be eligible to join the team Sept. 1 when major league rosters expand.
