A Fresno man and boy have been arrested on suspicion of attempted homicide on the grounds of a Clovis elementary school, the Clovis Police Department said Tuesday.
The 32-year-old man and the 17-year-old boy approached a man playing soccer at Miramonte Elementary School on July 21 and asked if he was a gang member.
The man said he wasn't and was then stabbed by the suspect and pistol-whipped by the boy, said Clovis police spokeswoman Calli Biaggi. The victim was able to run from the two and get to his car, where he called police.
Police identified the man and the boy and searched two homes in Fresno on Monday, Biaggi said. Officers arrested the man during a traffic stop in Fresno. The Fresno County Probation Adult Compliance Team arrested the boy.
The victim is still recovering from his injuries, Biaggi said.
