He's qualified because: Shot a 75 at the Central Section Individual Championships, finishing in a three-way tie for the sixth-best round, but missed out on qualifying for the CIF Southern California Regional on the tiebreaker of back-nine score. Rodrigues' 76 led Lemoore to a fourth-place finish in Division I at the section team championships. He shot a team second-best and tournament fourth-best 77 as Tigers won the Central Area title. Had a regular-season scoring average of 71.4 for the West Yosemite League champions. "He's always been a good ball-striker," Lemoore coach Keith Neal said. "And this year, he really improve his driving, which improved his scoring chances." Plans to play for West Hills-Lemoore next season.
Nick Sorenson
School: Bullard
Grade: Senior
He's qualified because: Played his way into the CIF Southern California Regional where he shot a 75, among the top 40 in a 124-player field. Earned his spot in SoCal by shooting a 74 -- tied for the day's fifth-best round -- at the Central Section Individual Championships. His 70 was the second-best round of the day and led Bullard to the team title at the North Area tournament. Had a regular season scoring average of 74 for the County/Metro Athletic Conference champion Knights. "There's no shot he won't try to pull off," Bullard coach Randy Seib said. "It doesn't matter what kind of trouble he gets into, he feels he can make the shot. And he's a magician around the green. He can save par from anywhere." Signed with Fresno State.
Brandon Stites
School: Bullard
Grade: Senior
He's qualified because: Finished second at the Central Section Individual Championships with a 1-under 71 to earn a spot in the CIF Southern California Regional. At SoCal, Stites shot a 75. He carded 77s to help Bullard win the North Area tournament and finish second in Division I during the section Team Championships. Stites' 72.5 scoring average helped the Knights win the County/Metro Athletic Conference title, and he carded a 73 during his team's win at the league tournament. "He is the consummate competitor," Bullard coach Randy Seib said. "He will practice, practice, practice until he thinks he's perfected it. He's never in trouble because he hits fairways and greens." Graduated with a 4.3 GPA and is headed to play for Pepperdine next season.
Michael Tolladay
School: Bullard
Grade: Senior
He's qualified because: Three-time All-Bee selection and last season's Golfer of the Year, Tolladay wrapped up his career with a tie for 21st place at the CIF Southern California Regional, where he shot a 73. Earned his spot in SoCal for the third straight year by tying for third with a 72 at the Central Section Individual Championships, a tourney he won last season. Tolladay's 72 paced Bullard to a second-place finish in Division I at the section team championships. He shot 74 as the Knights won the North Area Tournament and his 67 led the way at the County/Metro Athletic Conference tourney. "Michael's shot creativity is what makes him such a great player," Bullard coach Randy Seib said. "He can live in the trees and still save par." Has a regular-season scoring average of 72 for CMAC champ Knights. Signed with University of the Pacific.
James Trevino
School: Clovis West
Grade: Sophomore
He's qualified because: Captured the Central Section Individual Tournament title with a 2-under 70. Also was a key member of team that reached the CIF State Championships, where he shot a 78 (tied for 34th individually) as the Golden Eagles finished sixth as a team. Trevino shot an 80 at the Southern California Regional (where Clovis West was third as a team), a 77 as the Golden Eagles won the Central Section Division I team title and a 73 as his team finished second in D-I at the North Area tournament. Had a regular-season scoring average of 74 for the Tri-River Athletic Conference champions. He can hit a shot in the trees and you or I would get a double," Clovis West coach Tom Deel said. "But he finds a way to get the ball in the hole."
Jeffrey Yamaguchi
School: Clovis West
Grade: Sophomore
He's qualified because: Yamaguchi's 2-under 70 was the low round individually and led Clovis West to the Central Section Division I team championship. He then shot an 80 as the Golden Eagles placed third in the Southern California Regional and a 78 as Clovis West finished sixth at the CIF State Championships. He also shot a 77 at the North Area tournament, where Clovis West was second in D-I. "The thing about Jeff's game is consistency," Clovis West coach Tom Deel said. "He's fairways and greens. Nothing flashy. He epitomizes team golf." Yamaguchi tied for the fourth-best score with a 73 at the section individual tournament. Had a regular-season scoring average of 75.8 for the Tri-River Athletic Conference champions.
