He's qualified because: Bee Player of the Year finalist and County/Metro Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Year earned all three pitching victories in the Central Section Division I playoffs, including one in relief, as the 26-7 Knights captured their first section title in 13 years. Headed for Fresno State, he finished 10-2 with a 1.70 ERA and 90 strikeouts in 74 1/3 innings. His six-hitter with nine strikeouts beat Clovis 6-2 for the D-I crown. Made an emphatic personal and team statement by hitting a two-run homer in his first at-bat and pitching a one-hitter in a 3-1 conquest of two-year reigning D-I champion Buchanan.
