School: Clovis East

Grade: Senior

Position: Pitcher/outfield

He's qualified because: Tri-River Athletic Conference co-Player of the Year signed for $100,000 after being drafted in the 17th round by the Seattle Mariners as an outfielder. Facing high-caliber pitching, he hit .411 with 10 home runs and a .811 slugging percentage this season and .460 with 18 homers and 57 RBIs in two years with the Timberwolves. As a pitcher this year, he also went 5-4 with a 2.13 ERA and 101 strikeouts in 62 1/3 innings. "I'm not sure if many in the Valley have ever put up numbers like that in two years," Clovis East coach Rigo Ledezma says.
