School: Clovis East

Grade: Sophomore

He's qualified because: Vang and Brian Chongtoua were seventh seed at Central Section individual doubles tournament, reaching the quarterfinals before losing 6-2, 6-4 to eventual champions Anthony Busacca and Matt Sewell of Liberty. Vang went 10-5 in doubles, 14-6 in singles -- his only losses, two apiece, were to individual champion Ryan Andrada of El Diamante, Clovis West's Billy Griffith and Buchanan's Allen Wang. "He's a real heady player," Clovis East coach Phil King said. "You don't know if he's winning or losing because he's so mentally tough. And he's a real clean ball striker, which is a nice combination to have."
