School: Buchanan

Grade: Senior

Events: 50 free, 100 back, 200 medley relay, 400 free relay

He's qualified because: Finished third in the 50 free (21.55, second-best in school history) and fifth in the 100 back (53.93) at the Central Section D-I championships. Also a member of the Bears' second-place 200 medley (1:39.71) and 400 free (a consideration All-American and school-record 3:10.27) relays. "Phillip kind of reinvented himself this year," Bears coach Dave Pickford said of Clayman, who had previously focused on distance events. "He did a really nice job." Clayman was named Swimmer of the Meet after winning 50 free and 100 back at the Orange County Swim Games. The Bee's Player of the Year in boys water polo will play that sport at NCAA D-III Pomona-Pitzer next season.
