He's qualified because: Swam his way onto the podium four times at the Central Section D-I Championships, with his best individual effort a fourth-place finish in the 200 free (1:43.48, missing the school record by a little less than 2 seconds). Was also seventh in the 500 free (4:46.50), helping Buchanan hold off Clovis for second place in the team standings. Palecek swam the freestyle leg on the Bears' second-place 200 medley relay team (1:39.71) and was third into the water on the runner-up 400 relay team (3:10.27). "He really stepped up in the finals, especially in the 200," Buchanan coach Dave Pickford said. "He swam really well on the relays." Palecek was third in the 200 free at the Tri-River Athletic Conference meet.
