Ruling lets Kings County amend HSR lawsuit

A Sacramento judge reaffirmed an order that a Kings County lawsuit fails to make enough of a case to challenge California's high-speed rail plans. But the ruling Friday allows attorneys to amend and refile the complaint.

Hanford residents John Tos and Aaron Fukuda and Kings County alleged that the statewide high-speed train project violates provisions of Proposition 1A.

The court ruled that the suit, filed in November, prematurely anticipated that spending Prop. 1A money was imminent.

The judge is giving attorneys for Tos, Fukuda and the county until July 6 to refile the complaint.
