Students, school administrators and community members honored Dr. Floyd B. Buchanan on Thursday by unveiling a life-size bronze statue of him installed at Buchanan High School.

The statue, more than 6 feet tall, was modeled after a photo taken of Buchanan with children on his last day before retiring.

The volunteer project was started in 2007 by Leadership Clovis. Sam Pena was the artist.
