The answer to all three, much to the chagrin and disappointment of those hypercritical of the Roman Catholic Church, is a resounding "no."

  The only aspect of the papacy that is changeable is how the next pope will govern; matters of doctrine will remain as they have since the New Testament was written. Progressives fail to understand -- or refuse to accept -- that fact. Pope Benedict, though of different approach and demeanor than his predecessor, continued the solid doctrinal approach that Pope John Paul II preached, as well as the previous 264 popes in the line of Saint Peter. That's the power of the Holy Spirit.
