Javier Gasca III

The Fresno BeeMay 3, 2012

School: Kingsburg

Grade: Junior

Weight class: 132

Record: 50-5 (30 pins, 7 techs)

He’s qualified because: A heartbreaking last-seconds loss to eventual state champ Nikko Villareal of Gilroy kept Gasca out of the final, but he rebounded by pinning Poway’s Victor Lopez for third place and his first state medal. Gasca was runner-up at Masters, the Sierra-Sequoia Divisionals and in the Central Sequoia League. He was one of the tournament’s outstanding wrestlers while winning titles at the Zinkin, Five Counties and CIT Invitational. Also won titles at Chukchansi Invitational and Doc Buchanan.
