He’s qualified because: Davies’ victory in the consolation semifinals provided Cougars the points they needed to surpass Bakersfield’s all-time scoring record at the state tournament. Went on to earn his first state medal following 3-1 overtime loss to Cypress’ Paul Yoo in the third-place match. The Stanford-bound Davies was third at Masters, second at Yosemite Divisionals, the Tri-River Athletic Conference, Mission San Jose, Zinkin and Temecula Valley, and fourth at the Doc Buchanan.
