Prep baseball: No. 1 Clovis West blasts No. 2 Bullard

February 28, 2012

Tyler Ferguson, an expected first-round draft choice being observed by several pro scouts, pitched a no-hitter for six innings, gave up only a leadoff infield single in the seventh and also had two hits while batting cleanup as the top-ranked Clovis West High baseball team routed No. 2 Bullard 12-1 Tuesday in the Coca Cola Classic at Clovis High.

Bee All-Star Ferguson, who has signed with Vanderbilt, struck out 10 and walked two.

The Golden Eagles (5-0) rocked Knights ace Blake Quinn for 10 hits in 2 1/3 innings. He was coming off a one-hitter against defending national mythical champion Buchanan.

Ryan Clark, Joseph Garabedian, Justin Flores and Ferguson went a combined 10 for 13 atop Bullard's order.

It's a virtual lock that Bullard will play Clovis West again for the Coca Cola championship at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Clovis High. The 16-team tournament features two divisions and Clovis West leads one at 5-0 while Bullard (4-1) still leads the other.
