A man who previously was the No. 2 auto thief in Fresno has been sentenced to three years in prison after pleading guilty to robbery and auto theft, police said.

Larry Burgin, 33, was arrested six times in 2011 on what Fresno police say were a "wide variety" of property and drug crimes.

He remains in custody at the Fresno County Jail while awaiting a transfer to state prison.

Meanwhile, Michael Kent has been added to Fresno's top five car thieves list, police said.

Kent, 28, was arrested and booked into the Fresno County Jail shortly after 6 p.m. Tuesday on suspicion of auto theft, receiving stolen property and possession or burglary tools. He was released less than seven hours later because of overcrowding, police said.

He has been arrested six times since December on charges that include auto theft and burglary, police said.
