A man arrested in a fatal stabbing last weekend in Clovis was identified today.

Casildo Varbarin, 22, of Clovis, was taken into custody early Saturday after officers went to an apartment complex on Willow Avenue just north of Ashlan Avenue about 11 p.m. Friday and found a man who had been stabbed to death.

Police spokeswoman Janet Stoll-Lee said police had received a call from Community Regional Medical Center, where Varbarin had been hospitalized after he tried to take his own life with a knife.

Varbarin and the victim had apparently quarreled over a woman.

The identity of the victim has not been released.
