A 22-year-old man was arrested in the stabbing death Friday of another man at the suspect's Clovis apartment, police said Saturday.

The suspect, whose name has not been released, told police he and the victim argued over the suspect's girlfriend after a night of clubbing with friends.

Clovis police received a call about 6 p.m. Friday from Community Regional Medical Center in Fresno asking them to check the welfare of someone at the Ashtree Apartments on the 3100 block of Willow Avenue just north of Ashlan Avenue.

The victim was found on the floor covered with a blanket in the suspect's apartment, police said. The victim had been stabbed multiple times. Police believe the victim may have been dead since Friday morning.

The suspect was hospitalized after he tried to take his own life with a knife, police said.
