Elise Krieghoff pumped in 61 goals while leading the Buchanan High girls soccer team to Tri-River Athletic Conference titles the past two seasons.
The Cal Poly-bound senior's 22nd and 23rd goals this season helped secure at least a share of another league championship for the Bears.
Krieghoff helped Buchanan -- The Bee's top-ranked team in the Central Section -- rebound from an upset loss to Clovis West earlier in the week with a pair of goals within the first 23 minutes Friday in a 2-1 win over No. 3 Clovis. The Bears (16-2-1, 8-1) can capture the title outright with a victory over second-place Clovis North in the regular-season finale Tuesday.
"We had to set the tone early," Krieghoff said. "There were a lot of questions about us and we wanted to prove ourselves. We're not entitled to anything because of what we've done before. We were down on ourselves after the loss, but the thing that will win it is heart and effort, and we had that tonight."
Krieghoff was in the right spot at the right time to put Buchanan on the board in the seventh minute when she perfectly timed her run at the left post to meet Mikayla Jundt's penalty kick from right of the goal box.
