Pelco by Schneider Electric laid off four employees last week, but the Clovis company said it is not planning additional job cuts.
Some news reports indicated as many as 172 workers at the surveillance-equipment manufacturer faced layoffs in March, based on information from the state Employment Development Department's website.
Companies are required to provide notice to the department under the state's Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) laws.
Heather Calandra, a Pelco spokeswoman, said the confusion apparently was caused by a mixup in data reported to the state.
The report was supposed to show four job titles and the number of positions to be cut for each title. But Calandra said figures represented the age of the person who held each job title, not the number of positions for each job title. Those four ages added up to 172.
