A 22-year-old Fresno man has been sentenced to 11 years and eight months in prison for vehicular manslaughter in the death of a Fowler woman in 2010, the Fresno County District Attorney's Office said Friday.

Jacob Nathaniel Ward pleaded no contest in October to the manslaughter charge and a charge of leaving the scene of the crash that killed 50-year-old Lorri Ann Lassotovitch, the D.A.'s Office said.

Lassotovitch died in a crash in November 2010 near Clovis and South avenues west of Fowler.

She was a passenger in a 2000 Pontiac Firebird that was hit by a 1988 Ford Bronco driven by Ward. Lassotovitch, who was not wearing a seat belt, was thrown from the car and died later.

After initially leaving the scene of the crash, Ward turned himself in at a California Highway Patrol office.
