GIRLS SOCCER

Mari Cruz Chapa scored two goals and assisted on three others, Joanna Alfaro posted a shutout and Division VI top-ranked Orange Cove beat Sierra Pacific 6-0 in a battle for first in the East Sierra League.

BOYS SOCCER

Zach Esqueda's first-half goal stood up as Clovis North upset top-ranked Central 1-0 in the Tri-River Athletic Conference.

No. 2 Buchanan rallied, with Mark Bretz's goal off Derek Rhine's corner kick tying it and Tyler Haroldson's goal off a Rhine assist in the 69th minute the go-ahead score in a 2-1 win over Clovis in the TRAC.

Emerald Thomas and Carlos Ramirez scored during the first 18 minutes of the second half to send No. 3 Bullard to a 2-1 win over Edison in the County/Metro Athletic Conference.

David Aguilar's goal on a 20-yard free kick in the 76th minute lifted Madera South over No. 7 Roosevelt 2-1 for sole possession of first place in the North Yosemite League.

Eddie Fernandez scored to break a tie, and Louie Rosas added his second goal of the game -- all in the final 15 minutes -- as No. 8 Clovis West downed Clovis East 3-1 in the TRAC.

Tyler Ruff sent a shot over the goalkeeper off a cross from Eric Chavez with 5 minutes left in OT to send No. 10 Sanger past No. 9 Madera 2-1 and keep the Apaches in a tie with Bullard atop the CMAC.

Diego Duenas' goal off a Rudy Perez assist in the 41st minute was the difference as D-V third-ranked Woodlake handed D-IV top-ranked Lindsay (11-1-3) its first loss, 2-1 in the East Sequoia League.

BOYS BASKETBALL

T.J. Jackson scored 11 of his 22 points in Clovis West's 20-point fourth quarter as the No. 3 Golden Eagles rallied past the Broncos 54-46.
