  I still haven't seen an official roster from the Fresno Grizzlies, but several moves by the San Francisco Giants this morning give us some clues.

  In trimming their roster to 25 players, the Giants optioned P Steve Edlefsen and C Eli Whiteside to Fresno while reassigning IF Joaquin Arias, OF Justin Christian and P Jean Machi (all non-roster players) to the Grizzlies.

  Stellar pitching, almost: Matt Yourkin threw four shutout innings and Mitch Lively added another three as the Fresno Grizzlies defeated the Salt Lake Bees 9-5 Monday at Chukchansi Park. The Grizzlies were in line for their fourth shutout before struggling reliever Wilmin Rodriguez allowed all of Salt Lake's runs in the ninth. The Grizzlies boosted their record to 19-6 -- best in all of Triple-A.

  Prospect payoff: Despite entering with a .229 average, Grizzlies right fielder Francisco Peguero has started to find his swing. Peguero, considered the Giants' No. 2 prospect, has a hit in each of his past seven games after knocking a two-run homer over the short wall in right field during the third inning. He's hitting .370 during his streak.

  A costly error: Grizzlies No. 5 hitter Charlie Culberson smacked a three-run homer with two outs in the fifth to put the Grizzlies ahead 6-0. Culberson only got to bat after Bees second baseman Alexi Amarista committed an error one batter earlier.

  Prospecting: The Fresno Grizzlies opened the 2012 season Thursday with three of the San Francisco Giants' top 10 prospects on their roster, according to mlb.com. OF Francisco Peguero is No. 2 for the Giants and No. 97 overall. Known as a free swinger, Peguero boasts a .312 career average and excellent speed. RH Heath Hembree is the Giants' No. 3 prospect. With a fastball clocked in the high 90s, Hembree is considered a future major league closer. At No. 6 is 2B Charlie Culberson, who produced 46 extra-base hits last season for Double-A Richmond.

  Familiar faces: Twelve of Fresno's 24-man roster played for the team in 2011, and three more -- OF Todd Linden, RH Eric Hacker and LH Travis Blackley -- are ex-Grizzlies.
