A man warming up his truck before going to work Monday morning was assaulted and nearly run over twice by carjackers in Clovis. A Fresno police car-theft team recovered the truck several hours later.
Fresno police Sgt. Tim Tietjen said the victim was letting the truck idle about 6:30 a.m. while he loaded tools into the back.
That's when one of the bandits pushed him to the ground, jumped into the vehicle and began to drive off.
The victim tried to stop the pickup and was nearly run over. He was nearly run over again when the thieves drove past his house again, Tietjen said.
Members of the department's Career Criminal Auto Theft Team saw the pickup at an apartment complex on the 1200 block of North Recreation Avenue about 10 a.m.
