"American Idol" finalist James Durbin visits Clovis on Tuesday for a free concert at Old Town Saloon, 450 Clovis Ave.

It's the first of radio station Y101's (KWYE, FM 101.1) "Unplugged" concerts of 2012. The series has previously brought acts such as Fitz & The Tantrums, Backstreet Boys and Sugar Ray.

Durbin finished fourth on "Idol's" 10th season. He's a rock singer with a heavy metal background. Many people might also remember him as the contestant with Tourette's syndrome.

After "Idol," Durbin signed a deal with Wind-Up Records and released his solo debut album, "Memories of a Beautiful Disaster," in November. It included the singles "Stand Up" and "Love Me Bad."

His concert in Clovis starts at 8 p.m. It's free, but only open to ages 21 and older.

Camper Van Beethoven

After scheduling Built to Spill and Surfer Blood for a show at the Visalia Fox Theatre on Feb. 24, concert promoter Sound N Vision Foundation hasn't stopped.

It's also announced a Feb. 12 date with Camper Van Beethoven, an alt-rock band that had breakthrough success in the late '80s. The band went on hiatus for a bit in the '90s, but it reformed eventually and released albums in 2002 and 2004.

The show is at The Cellar Door in Visalia. Tickets cost $10 and are available in advance at ticketweb.com.

Poor Man's Poison headed to Sundance

Kudos to Hanford-based band Poor Man's Poison, which scored an invite to perform at the Sundance Film Festival.

It will perform at the prestigious film festival in Utah on Jan. 21.

Looking ahead locally, Poor Man's Poison -- which plays eclectic modern bluegrass -- is getting ready for a Feb. 18 concert at the Hanford Fox Theatre.

Tickets are on sale now and cost $20.
