WRESTLING

  • Clovis, with 117 points and seven semifinalists, has a big lead heading into the final day of the Doc Buchanan Invite at the Clovis gym. Poway is next with 85.5 and three semifinalists. Action resumes at 9 a.m., with the finals about 5:30 p.m. Clovis West (48) is sixth and Lemoore (43) eighth.

BOYS BASKETBALL

  • Clovis West -- ranked No. 6 in the Central Section by The Bee -- downed St. Mary's-Stockton 79-67 behind Charlie Thompson's 22 points, T.J. Jackson's 18 and Trevon Jackson's 12 with 12 rebounds.
  • Justin Barrels' four free throws in the final minute sealed section No. 3-ranked Central's 66-60 home win against Edison. Murshid Randle had 25 points for the Grizzlies and Jordan Batts had 21 points for Tigers.

  • Grant Verhoeven continued his tear for No. 8 Central Valley Christian with 22 points, 15 rebounds, six blocks and five assists in a 72-51 Central Sequoia League rout of Dinuba.
  • BOYS SOCCER

    • Nationally No. 10-ranked Central (17-1), behind Pedro Hernandez's hat trick, beat Buchanan 4-2 in double OT in a Tri-River Athletic Conference opener.

    GIRLS SOCCER

    • Leila Monzon and Samantha Avila scored in Madera South's 2-0 win against Madera.
