A Coalinga woman was arrested Thursday on suspicion of animal cruelty, Coalinga police officer Rebecca Milligan said.

Animal control officers were called to the 400 block of East Pleasant Avenue on a complaint of aggressive dogs.

Officers found 13 malnourished dogs and six dead dogs on the property. One was tranquilized after it tried to attack an officer, Milligan said.

There was no food on the property. The dogs were taken to the Coalinga animal shelter.

The owner of the property was arrested on suspicion of six counts of felony animal cruelty, Milligan said.
