The Fresno County District Attorney's Office will work with police agencies across the county to combat young offenders who drive under the influence, thanks to a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety.
The $665,000 grant will allow the District Attorney's office to create a specialized team to investigate and prosecute felony driving under the influence cases involving offenders age 18 to 29, Deputy District Attorney Dennis Verzosa said.
District Attorney Elizabeth Egan said the 18 to 29 age group makes up nearly half of all DUI cases filed in the county.
