School: Bullard

Grade: Junior

She's qualified because: At a school known for producing a dual-sport star in the fall in Pookie Gonzales (tennis, volleyball), here's yet another on the same campus. Typically, Teliha practiced tennis in the afternoon while emerging as one of the section's top singles players before shifting to long mileage in the evening in cross country training as directed by her mother -- the former Bullard record-breaking runner who went by Linda Hooke. Her daughter, this season, won the County/Metro Athletic Conference title, placed second in the section D-I race and 11th in the state at 18:15 -- No. 2 in the section among all divisions for the season.
