A 2-year-old boy who fell into a neighbor's pool after strong winds knocked down part of a backyard fence remains in intensive care at Children's Hospital Central California, his grandmother, Bernadine Davis, said Friday.
"He's doing as well as can be expected. We're just praying and hoping for the best," Davis said at the boy's home in the 3500 block of Lafayette Avenue.
Monica Irlas, who lives in the home with the pool in the 2200 block of Dayton Avenue, said she and her husband, Richard, were at a doctor's office at about 1:30 p.m. when her mother, who lives next door, called to say someone had fallen in the pool.
The couple rushed home, Irlas said. "It was scary. I'm still freaked out," she said. Paramedics arrived shortly after they did, she said.
Three slats that were blown from a wooden fence have been repaired. The pool at the rental home does not have a fence.
