About 200 people crammed onto a tiny Clovis street corner for a candlelight vigil to remember two Valley residents who died there on Sunday morning.

Keith Smith of Clovis and Jessica Matthes of Sacramento were killed in a collision at Barstow and Minnewawa avenues by a suspected drunken driver.

The nearly 200 people who attended the vigil represented the pair's friends and family.

"As we drove up, we saw the crowd and we began to tear up," said Smith's aunt, Pam Burgess. "It was a wonderful sight."

Police arrested 29-year-old Larry Garcia on Sunday on suspicion of driving under the influence and vehicular manslaughter with gross negligence in connection with the crash. He was released Monday afternoon from Fresno County Jail on $57,000 bail, Clovis police spokeswoman Janet Stoll-Lee said.

Burgess said that Smith's family had been planning his funeral all day Monday.

A viewing will be held on Thursday at Boice Funeral Home in Clovis from noon to 7 p.m. and the funeral will be held at the Boice Chapel on Friday at 11 a.m., Burgess said.

Smith, a Marine veteran of the Gulf War, will be buried at Clovis Cemetery with full military honors.

Matthes' funeral arrangements were not available.
